Taiwanese Vanilla

Message from us

The fruit of friendship, a taste that connects Taiwan and Japan

We are the first company in Taiwan that specializes in natural vanilla

"Taiwan Herb Orchid Co., Ltd."
"Fragrance" means "vanilla" in Chinese.

The reason why the company name contains the character "Ran" is because
The name comes from the fact that vanilla is a type of orchid.

In 2020, approximately 93% of vanilla beans imported by Japan from overseas were from Madagascar, with the total import volume reaching approximately 45 tons. This is because Madagascar is the world's largest producer of vanilla, and its high quality is highly regarded in many countries. In Japan in particular, there is a very high demand for Madagascar vanilla, especially from the confectionery and baking industries and high-end ice cream manufacturers.

However, in recent years, Madagascar has been suffering from chronic droughts due to the effects of climate change, dealing a serious blow to the entire agriculture industry. In addition, the country's economic instability, fragile infrastructure, and distribution disruptions have all compounded to worsen social problems such as food shortages and rising unemployment. These conditions have also had a major impact on vanilla production, with reduced yields and noticeable variations in quality.

Against the backdrop of this supply uncertainty, vanilla prices on the international market have risen sharply, currently recording an abnormally high price of about 10 times what it was 10 years ago. This is a major cost increase factor for the food industry around the world, and its impact is spreading within Japan as well.

Our company takes this difficult situation very seriously. We are currently taking concrete steps to maintain stable prices and build a supply system for vanilla raw materials, as well as to reduce costs in international logistics. We aim to build a sustainable vanilla supply model by strengthening our ties with producing areas, supporting producers, promoting fair trade, and improving local supply chains.

Diversity and Inclusion

At our workplace, we are working to create an environment that takes into consideration both physical and institutional aspects so that people with disabilities can work independently as equal members of society.

For example, we have introduced a barrier-free design office that is wheelchair accessible, a flexible working hours system that takes commuting and travel into consideration, and various working styles such as telecommuting and remote working. In addition, rather than assigning work content uniformly, we have created a system in which everyone can work to their strengths by adjusting it according to each person's skills, aptitude, and physical condition.

In addition, we actively incorporate team building, communication support, and awareness training so that all employees, regardless of whether they have a disability, can respect each other, cooperate with each other, and grow together.

We place importance on making diversity and inclusion not just a slogan, but an actual part of our corporate culture. No matter what background people have, they can be themselves and demonstrate their strengths with peace of mind. That is the kind of workplace we aim to be.
